To help celebrate Trick-or-Treat night in Harrisburg, the Governor opened the doors to the Governor's Mansion to hand out candy and invite kids through a haunted house.
Governor Corbett says it's a way for him to be involved in the community. "This is part of being part of the community, inviting everybody in. It's part of having fun. Halloween was always one of the best holidays for me as a kid growing up."
Zombies, spider webs, pumpkins, and other creatures invaded the usually quiet mansion. "The best part is seeing the little kids having a big smile on their faces - or being really scared!" Corbett said.
"Everything for real. Everything just jumped out!" and "It was so scary!" were just some of the reactions from kids walking through the haunted house that was set up inside the mansion. "The scariest part was when the vampire jumped out the coffin."
When trick-or-treaters made it to the end of the mansion, the Tin Man and Dorothy were there to greet them. Governor Corbett says he and his wife are already thinking of their costumes for next year's haunted house. "We did Wizard of Oz this year, as soon as this is over we'll start thinking of what next year is going to be."
All the hay used in the haunted house was donated by the Farm Show and the candy given out was donated by Hershey's.
