Communities announce grant awards

Franklin County
The Franklin County Foundation (FCF), a regional foundation of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, is pleased to announce 2012 grant recipients. FCF's strategic grantmaking focus is to invest in innovative, collaborative approaches and solutions to community problems, and to support projects that have the potential for the greatest impact on the quality of life and positive outcomes for individuals and families living in Franklin County.

The Foundation received 19 applications with grant requests over $65,000. Grantees in 2012 include arts organizations, community development programs, health and human services agencies, animal welfare organizations, and more. Grantees include: Better Days Animal League, $986.25; Capitol Theatre Foundation, $1,000.00; Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, $6,528.00; Chambersburg Area Council for the Arts, $2,000.00; Chambersburg Hospital, $1,118.00; Cumberland Valley School Of Music, $1,123.00; Franklin County Historical Society – Kittochtinny, $1,000.00; Healthy Communities Partnership Of Greater Franklin Co Inc, $5,000.00; Pregnancy Ministries Inc, $2,500.00; Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA, $6,528.00; Waynesboro Community and Human Services, $2,500.00.

The Franklin County Foundation funds come from bequests and gifts given by individuals, families, organizations, and institutions and are held by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. The FCF Advisory Committee determines the distribution of the income from the investment of the discretionary funds.

Mechanicsburg Area
The Mechanicsburg Area Foundation (MAF), a regional foundation of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, is pleased to announce 2012 grant recipients. MAF's strategic grantmaking focus is to invest in innovative, collaborative approaches and solutions to community problems, and to support projects that have the potential for the greatest impact on the quality of life and positive outcomes for individuals and families living in the Mechanicsburg area.

The Foundation received 14 applications with grant requests totaling nearly $55,000. Grantees in 2012 include arts organizations, community development programs, health and human services agencies, and more. Grantees include: Asbury Atlantic Inc (Bethany Village), $2,500.00; Big Brothers-Big Sisters of the Capital Region Inc, $5,000.00; Bountiful Blessings, Inc., $2,500.00; Employment Skills Center, $2,500.00; Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, $10,000.00; Joseph T. Simpson Public Library, $2,500.00; Mechanicsburg Art Center, $1,926.00; Mechanicsburg Little League Association, $2,500.00; New Hope Ministries Inc, $5,000.00; Rebuilding Together Greater Harrisburg Inc, $2,500.00; Silver Spring Township Veterans Memorial Committee, $4,000.00; United Cerebral Palsy of Central Pennsylvania, $2,500.00.
