Some residents are hoping that Hurricane Sandy doesn't do a repeat of last year's flooding in Shipoke, caused by tropical storm Lee. Shipoke resident Katherine says Lee caused a flood in her home, and she hopes that doesn't happen again, "water was right under our floor boards. We were really lucky. It was an extreme flood and we survived."
Some stores were selling out on things such as generators, batteries, milk and bread as early as Friday afternoon.
The Stoudt family from Middletown says they are ready for the storm. "I haven't. They have you stocked up? Oh yeah, bread and milk."
But other residents we talked to said they weren't worried about the storm. Residents like Bob say they aren't worried. "Just waiting to hear what happens. I just kind of ignored it yesterday. And then heard something may come in. I'm worried about flooding"
Right now, the Susquehanna River level is at 4 feet. City Engineers say they expect to get 10 inches of rainfall by Sunday night. That means they don't expect it to hit above Flood State which is 17feet.
As for Monday into the week, Emergency Management Officials say it's too early to predict what will happen. What they do expect are winds 30-50 miles per hour, which is bad news for Halloween decorations.
Emergency Management leaders say it's always a good idea to have extra non-perishable food around in times like these, and extra batteries and candles are also good to have around, especially if the power goes out.
