HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania death row inmate is set for a clemency hearing a day before he's scheduled to be put to death.

The state Board of Pardons is scheduled to hear 56-year-old Hubert Michael's request Wednesday afternoon. He's scheduled to die by lethal injection at Rockview State Prison on Thursday.

Michael pleaded guilty to the July 1993 murder of 16-year-old Trista Elizabeth Eng, after kidnapping her in York County, about a half-hour south of Harrisburg.

The board must unanimously support a clemency petition for it to advance to Gov. Tom Corbett, but the final decision rests with the governor.

Two federal judges are also weighing motions in separate cases filed by Michael's lawyers in hopes of forestalling the execution.

The state Supreme Court refused to block the execution Monday.
