The Pennsylvania Game Commission says they have identified a second deer with Chronic Wasting Disease in Adams County.

Now, officials are meeting with meat processors and taxidermists to educate them and try to keep it from spreading.

The Centers for Disease Control says that right now there is no evidence that shows humans or livestock can get the disease. But it can spread between deer, elk and moose.

Chronic Wasting Disease attacks the brain of infected antlered animals, forming small lesions that eventually cause death.

Last month, a deer on a farm in New Oxford tested positive for the disease. Now, the Pennsylvania Game Commission says they've identified another deer with the disease from that same farm.

So they're taking precautions by meeting with 63 businesses that deal with the handling of deer in Adams County, as part of an ongoing effort to monitor and keep chronic wasting disease from spreading.

The meeting is private. However, Thursday night there will be a public meeting that begins at 7 p.m. that everyone is welcome to attend.

It will take place at the York County Fairgrounds inside of Horticulture Hall.
