On July 12th, 1993, Hubert Michael Jr. of Lemoyne met Trista Eng, 16, of Franklin Township when he responded to an ad to buy a chair at her home.
Later that day, he offered Eng a ride to work at Hardee's in Dillsburg when he saw her walking along Route 15.
At some point during the car ride, Michael tied up Eng with electrical cords. He then drove to the state game lands in Warrington Township where he raped the teenager, put a bag over her head, and shot her 3 times.
Michael fled the state 10 days later, but was captured in Utah.
At the time, he was free on bail for a Lancaster County rape charge, but after being brought back to prison for that rape charge, Michael confessed the murder to his brother, who helped police find Eng's body.
In November of 1993, Michael escaped from Lancaster County Prison, but was captured in New Orleans four months later.
Michael plead guilty to first-degree murder a year later, but was never charged with rape because of insufficient evidence, but Michael did confess the rape to a public defender.
The now 56-year-old has faced the death penalty twice, once in 1996 and in 2004 - but both times his execution was stayed pending further appeal.
