Lancaster City police have arrested a gospel choir instructor for inappropriate contact with a student while he was a school district employee at McCaskey High School.

Clifton Rodney Jenkins, 50, of the 500 Block of Park Avenue in Lancaster was arrested November 7 at his home.

The 29-year-old victim reported to police on October 1 that she was sexually assaulted by Jenkins while she was a student at McCaskey High School. She told police she joined the choir in 1999 at the age of 16 and that is how she met Jenkins.

The victim reported that on April 1, 2000, she was a passenger in Jenkins's car when he offered to give her a ride home from a school event.

Jenkins reportedly pulled his car over to a curb on Lehigh Avenue and sexually assaulted the victim.

A few weeks later on April 15, 2000 the victim pulled the victim into a classroom at the school, exposed himself and attempted to have sex with her.

The victim also told police that Jenkins took Polaroid pictures of her and made her take pictures of him exposing himself at various places and events.

Jenkins was charged with Corruption of Minors.  He was arraigned and released on $30,000 unsecured bail.

The School District of Lancaster issued this statement Thursday,

"The District learned of the allegations involving Mr. Jenkins yesterday and is working with local authorities to ensure the matter is handled appropriately. It is always disheartening when allegations involving adults who are responsible for the well-being of our children betray our trust.

Our first and foremost priority is to protect our students. If these charges are deemed conclusive, we fully support deliberate and swift action be taken.

Mr. Jenkins is suspended pending the outcome of this investigation. He has been a fulltime employee with the District since 2002. Most recently he served as a middle school Paraeducator. Prior to his fulltime employment, he held a co-curricular music position at McCaskey."

Police are still investigating and ask anyone with information to call Lancaster City Police at 717-735-3300 or Lancaster City Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-1913.
