Game commission holding meeting for hunters to help prevent spread of Chronic Wasting Disease

The PA Game Commission is holding its second meeting Thursday, asking hunters for help this time to stop the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease.

Two deer in captivity in Adams County has tested positive for it so far, and officials are worried about it spreading into the wild.

The meeting Thursday night will be held at the York County Fairgrounds, inside of the horticulture hall at 7. It will be chance for hunters to ask questions and get informed on the disease so they can help prevent the spread of CWD.

Hunters who harvest deer within the disease management area, which includes Adams and York Counties as well as part of Northern Maryland.  During the two week firearms season, hunters must now bring their deer to a mandatory check station.

The meeting is open to the public and the Game Commission encourages all hunters to come out to do their part in the prevention of the disease.
