PennDOT District 8 announced today that curb cut work begins Nov. 13 on Route 641, East Main Street in Mechanicsburg Borough, Cumberland County. This work marks the start of a project to repair Main Street and Simpson Street and sections of Market Street and East Trindle Road in preparation for resurfacing next summer.
The $3,132,905 contract was awarded on June 29 to Pennsy Supply, Inc., of Annville, Lebanon County, and includes curb cut work required by the Americans with Disabilities Act, roadway base repair, drainage work, milling and resurfacing, guiderail and new traffic lines.
PennDOT advises those traveling in Mechanicsburg that they may encounter lane and parking restrictions with flaggers directing traffic through the work zone in the borough on weekdays after 8:30 a.m. from now until winter sets in.
Crews will return in the spring to repair these roads in preparation for resurfacing: Main Street from the intersection with West Simpson Street and West Trindle Road to East Trindle Road; East Trindle Road from East Main Street to Sheely Lane; Simpson Street from the intersection with West Main Street and West Trindle Road to the intersection with Wesley Drive and Sheely Lane; and South Market Street from Main to Simpson streets.
Work under this construction contract is scheduled to be completed by the end of August 2013.
