The judge overseeing the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case has granted a delay in post trial motions until at least January.
Sandusky’s attorneys requested the delay. They said his lead appeals attorney had health problems and they needed more time.
Sandusky’s attorneys now have until December 14 to file paperwork in support of an appeal.
They want his conviction thrown out, citing reasons from permitted hearsay to insufficient evidence.
In their bid to delay, they told the judge lead appeals attorney Norris Gelman had a heart attack and open heart surgery which hindered his ability to work on the case.
The judge agreed, ruling prosecutors must now respond by January 3, with a new hearing on the matter scheduled for January 10.
Sandusky of course was sentenced last month to 30-60 years in prison.
His attorneys have said their appeal process could take years.
