CBS 21 NEWS has received 13 Emmy nominations in 12 categories, as announced during the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Television Arts and Sciences nomination parties across the state.
In addition, CBS 21 News was the only local station to be nominated in the prestigious "Best Local Newscast" Emmy category.
WGAL received 6 nominations WHTM received 5 nominations and FOX 43 received 1 nomination.
Holly Steuart, Vice President and General Manager of CBS 21 said, "I am very proud of everyone at CBS 21 News who was recognized by the Academy. It's wonderful to see our hard work nominated for Emmys by our peers in other states who judge the Mid-Atlantic Emmy competition. Our entire station staff contributes to the success of our news product and we push every day to make it the best local news in the market."
Stations in the Central Pennsylvania television market belong to the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, which includes the markets of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh as well as the other television markets in Pennsylvania.
Only the "Best Local Newscast" nominations are grouped by market size. That means local stations like CBS 21 compete against Philadelphia and Pittsburgh stations, among others in the rest of the categories.
CBS 21 News Director Craig Hume said, "We congratulate all of our Emmy nominees for 2012. It's quite an achievement to receive the most nominations of any station in the Susquehanna Valley."
