UPDATE(2): Chemical fire at Wilson Middle School

UPDATE (2):

Seven students and a teacher are being treated for injuries following an explosion in a science lab at Wilson Middle School in Carlisle.

Two students were air-lifted by Life Lion helicopters to John Hopkins medical center.  Three students were transported by ambulance to Carlisle Regional Medical Center.  In addition, two students and a teacher went to the medical center to be checked out after the incident.

Families of all the injured students have been notified.

The cause and nature of the explosion are being investigated by the Carlisle Fire Department.

UPDATE:
 
CBS 21 News crews on the scene tell us that 3 students have been sent to Carlisle Medical by ambulance for treatment of burns and that 2 students were Life-Lioned to John Hopkins Medical Center.

We are also told that all parents of the injured students have been notified by authorities.



Around 11:40am, Cumberland County dispatch responded to reports of a chemical explosion in an 8th grade science lab at Wilson Middle School in the 900 block of Waggoner's Gap Road in Carlisle.

Reports are that the explosion caused a fire that is now under control. It is also reported that possibly 7-9 people have injuries due to the explosion and fire.

Life Lion has been requested to the scene.
