Attorney John Hanger announced Wednesday that he will be running for a Democratic seat in the 2014 race for Governor.

"It is my honor to announce today that I am a candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania."   Attorney John Hanger stood in the Pennsylvania Capital building to announce his candidacy for Governor.

Hanger served Pennsylvania for over 7 years as Public Utility Commissioner and Secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection.  "Education must be the top priority, not the last priority within each state budget. Education must come first."

During his announcement, the Democrat attacked Governor Corbett's education cuts.  "Governor Corbett's 2011 2012 education cut of 1 billion dollars was a choice - it was not a matter of necessity. He wanted to implement those education cuts because he actually doesn't like public education."

Hanger believes that in the last 2 years, the state has not done enough to support the public university system, in turn crippling job production.  "I will fight for every job in Pennsylvania no matter where it is, and I will work tirelessly to bring new jobs to our state."

As a strong advocate for many social issues, Hanger made clear that he his pro-choice, supports marriage equality, and supports medical marijuana.  "I'm proud to be a Pennsylvanian because it's home to liberty. This is where liberty began - this is the home of liberty on the face of the earth."

Before ending his announcement, Hanger attacked Corbett and the Attorney General's handling of the Sandusky Scandal and said he's eager to look into the matter.   "I fully support Attorney General elect Kane's commitment to do a full review of the Sandusky Case."
