Police issued a press release around 1015 p.m. on Wednesday. It reads: "Carlisle Police and the Carlisle Area School District are aware of comments made on Facebook and Twitter this afternoon concerning violence at the school tomorrow. Both the school district authorities and the Police are working on the matter and find no evidence at this time that the threat is credible. Both the police and school authorities will continue to look into the matter throughout the night. In addition, extra officers will be patrolling the school grounds tomorrow."
The school sent a text message notice to parents informing them of the incident.
The text says: CASD:CHS is aware of statements that an incident is to occur Nov 29. CHS&Carlisle Police are investigating. Security@the HS will be elevated with the Police.
The school district also has a post on its website informing parents of the rumors.
That statement reads, "The Carlisle High School Administration is aware of the statements being spread through social media (facebook, Twitter) that an incident is going to occur Thursday, November 29th at the high school. The CHS Administration along with the Carlisle Police Department is actively investigating. Security at the high school will be elevated to include the presence of Carlisle Police Officers tomorrow. The CHS Administration will work to maintain a safe environment for our students and staff."
Rumors of the shooting are spreading on social media sites Facebook and Twitter. One of the tweets sent out said, "so im guessing a bullet-proof vest is being added to the dress code at #CarlisleHighSchool? Another tweet said, I didn't know it would be #SurvivalWeek at Carlisle high school.
Police are actively investigating the rumors. We will bring you more information as it becomes available.
