UPDATE:
A Harrisburg Area Community College student was abducted Monday morning and police are looking for the suspect.
According to Harrisburg Police, the woman was abducted at the HACC campus on Cameron Street. The victim was able to call her father and tll him what happened and he called police. The man took the woman to Enola, and she was able to escape and run to a nearby home for help.
The woman told police she parked her car on campus, and a man came up to her and forced her into the passenger seat. He got in the driver's seat and held a gun to her head. She said he pulled into a parking lot where the Conodoguinet Creek meets the Susquehanna River. The suspect forced the woman to walk in a wooded area while holding the gun to her head and then tried to sexually assault her.
The man put the gun down and she was able to escape. The man drove away in the woman's car. He took the car back to the HACC parking lot and left it there.
The investigation continues and anyone having any information on this is asked to contact Det. John O’Connor at 717-255-3175 or email joconnor@cityofhbg.com or Sgt. Deric Moody at 717-255-3156 or email dmoody@cityofhbg.com.
This is a situation that has everyone on both HACC campuses in Harrisburg on alert.
“I think it's pretty crazy that somebody would come in an abduct somebody in the middle of the day and in the morning and just roll out and be gone,” commented HACC student Rick Stone. “I just think it's pretty scary.”
Monday morning about 8:30 a.m., HACC student Rick Stone got a text message from the school. “Abduction reported at the Harrisburg campus. Victim driven off campus and released. Take precautions. Contact police with information.”
Student, Frank Gagliardi, also got the message. “I thought that was kind of wild,” Gagliardi said about receiving the message. “It's not something I expected to get on my phone.”
The suspect is described as a while male, about 50 years old, with glasses, a goatee and carrying a briefcase. When the initial alert went out, students say the school was evacuated while the alarms were going off.
“Things are getting crazy anywhere you go,” Gagliardi told us. “It's a sign of the times.”
“With the time it's going on and the economy, you don't know what's going to happen from day to day,” agreed Stone. “It's scary and I think it's going to get worse.”
