Clarence Shaffer was arrested for the abduction of a HACC student on Monday.

He says he did it because he wanted to go back to jail.  "I wanted to go back to prison - cause it's the only thing I have. I can't get any medication out here, I couldn't get any help from the VA, I couldn't get help anywhere, so I gave up, and I'm sorry and I hope society can forgive me one day, but I just couldn't take this anymore. I tried. I tried."

Tuesday, police searched the mid-state for 52-year-old Shaffer and targeted their search at Harrisburg Area Community College where he was last seen.

Police brought in K-9's units and even a helicopter to search for him.

Students were evacuated from campus as a precaution. Todd Crawley, the Director of Public Safety at HACC said there was no danger to students.   "It was one that had the best interest of the faculty, staff, and students at heart - and so we just removed them from the situation. "

Around 2 PM police spotted Shaffer at the Turkey Hill in Highspire in a rental car.  He was arrested without incident.

Shaffer is being charged with Simple Assault, Terroristic Threats, Two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, indecent assault and kidnapping.

"I think that that student was incredible courageous that abducted yesterday to go and get away from her abductor. I am just so proud of that woman - that's amazing," said Crawley.

Shaffer said he picked his victim at random, and he hopes she can recover from this.  "I'm so sorry- I hope you can get over this. I don't want to hurt you and I told you I wouldn't hurt you."

Whether this was a crime to get back in jail or not will be up to the courts, but Shaffer says he just wanted to go back to jail.
