Last week, Harrisburg City Council narrowed its search to fill Patty Kim's seat down to six finalists.

Tuesday night, from those six, a new member of council has been chosen.

Council needs to pass a budget before the New Year. How much did that impact the selection of a new councilman? Turns out, it impacted their selection quite a bit.

Bruce Weber, a Harrisburg city resident with a financial background was chosen as the newest member of city council.

It took three rounds of voting from the council’s six members to choose Weber. Eugenia Smith initially had another choice before agreeing to nominate Weber.

Bruce Weber declined to speak on camera, but as he took his new seat at council, he did issue us a statement.

"I look forward to getting to work on behalf of the people of Harrisburg immediately, in order to help the city move closer to fulfilling it's promising civic and economic potential," read Weber’s statement.

Ccouncilman Kelly Summerford says the process that selected Weber was fair, and moving forward he has no doubts they can work together

Had Weber spoken to us on camera, we would have liked to ask him about his take on the city's budget issues.

But council seems determined to pick his brain on that topic.

Weber will serve for one year, the time remaining for Patty Kim, who is now a state representative.
