Sunday night, the Cumberland Valley School District called parents with a message about safety following Friday's school shooting in Connecticut.

This is the message parents received from the school district:

Please be advised that this message is intended for our school community of parents and guardians:

Our hearts remain heavy as we continue to learn more about Friday's events in Connecticut. The purpose of this evening's phone call is to make you aware that, if you haven't already seen, CV on Friday issued an E-news email blast to the community regarding safety in our buildings. This message is also available on the homepage of our website.

We understand students may have continued questions about what has occurred. You will also find on our website resources that may be helpful. Additionally, please remember that counselors are always available to provide students and staff an outlet to confide his or her feelings and concerns.

As indicated in our message on Friday, ongoing conversations occur between CV and local authorities in regards to safety procedures. We can assure you that we will continue to evaluate and, as necessary, update our district's procedures.

Thank you for your commitment to CVSD.
