MOUNT MORRIS, Pa. (AP) — State police and a coroner say they're investigating human remains found by two hunters in the woods near Pennsylvania's southern border with West Virginia.

Greene County Coroner Gregory Rohanna and troopers from the Waynesburg barracks have not immediately returned calls to update news releases they issued over the weekend.

The coroner says he's confirmed the remains were human, but has yet to identify them or determine how the person died.

The remains were found about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Perry Township, near Mount Morris. That's about 50 miles south of Pittsburgh.

Authorities have not said how long they believe the remains had been there or whether they're actively pursuing them as a lead to any unsolved missing persons or suspected murder cases.
