Lower Allen Township Police are investigating a hit an run involving a pedestrian.
Officers were called to a home in the Township, for a report of a pedestrian accident, around 4:35 Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened around 4:15 at the intersection of Hummel Ave. and 18th Street. The 23-year-old male told police he was crossing Hummel Ave from the north side to the south side at the intersection. When he started crossing, he was struck by a car.
The vehicle applied the breaks after hitting and then drove away towards Lemoyne. It is described as red or maroon, possibly a smaller station wagon model of a Ford.
The pedestrian saw the car coming and was able to jump at the last minute landing on the hood and the windshield of the car. He said the windshield did not shatter.
Multiple people stopped to help the pedestrian, but no one called police.
The victim walked home before calling police.
The victim was wearing darker clothing and said the weather may have also been a contributing factor.
Lower Allen Township Police are asking for the people who stopped to check on the victim, who may have seen the accident, or
was the driver or a passenger in the striking vehicle to call police at 717-238-9676.
