After recent mass shootings, and some of them at schools, many parents are changing their views on school safety.
Sandra Bryington, a parent says she doesn't feel safe sending her kids to school. "With the incident that happened last week, I do not think that - I don't feel that my children are safe at school. I was really terrified actually to send them today. This is our future. These kids are our future. We need to keep them safe."
On Friday, the National Rifle Association asked Congress to consider putting armed officers in every school across the country.
"With everything that's going on - having them there, parents would be able to trust school staff and everything with what's going on to make sure that their kids and everyone else is safe." Explained Robert Leech, a father of four. "So yeah, I think it's a good idea. Seeing what's going on in the past years… Yeah. I can't see why it wouldn't be a good idea actually."
While many think this could help solve the problem of violence in schools, others think that it's a step too far.
Robert Straub, says he doesn't like the idea of someone with a gun. "I don't think it's a good idea. It's just going to put more burden on the tax payers. I think what would be a better resort would be for maybe for teachers to be trained with tasers - not so much a gun, but tasers that they could protect themselves or stop violence from happening."
The one thing everyone agreed on is that something needs to be done to keep our schools safe.
"We gotta think of our children - that's what it comes down to. I got 4 children of my own - I'd love to see it that way, you know, that they would actually would do it - whether it costs me another 100 dollars a month out of my check - it would be it," said Leech.
Brittany Shutt, has school aged children. She says she thinks we should do whatever it takes to keep kids safe. "I mean, you don't want to send your kid to jail, but if that's the way to keep it safe, then I'm willing to do whatever."
