EXCLUSIVE: Gun Show Buyers/Dealers Sound Off

Hundreds of people showed up in record numbers to the gun show at the York Expo Center. CBS 21 News was the only station allowed inside to talk to gun buyers and dealers.

Many of them say they're rushing in to get their hands on what many consider to be assault weapons, like the ones Adam Lanza used in the Connecticut school shooting. The gun collectors fear those weapons will be banned in the near future.

This year, the type of fire arms many people are looking to buy at the Tri-County Gun Show in York County, Pennsylvania, are semi-automatic weapons like the AK-47 and AR-15. Those are in high demand, because many gun collectors say they're afraid they'll soon be outlawed.

" It's one of the reasons I'm here. I don't like it. I just think it goes against everything, the Constitution, everything I believe. Came up to see what you can get before you can't get any," said Kevin Schwender, gun buyer.

" It's a terrible tragedy what happened in Newtown, but we can't punish everybody, because of a madman. We need to, I think these psychiatrists that are treating these people , they should be held responsible too," said Frank Hereda, gun collector.

CBS 21 News also spoke with a dealer at the gun show, who sells the types of weapons Adam Lanza used in the Connecticut school shooting. He says he's whole-heartedly against any sort of assault weapons ban.

" To try to ban firearms, any type, to stop violent crimes is the equivalent of saying to try to stop drunk driving, we should ban automobiles," said Dave Zeller, Zeller's Sporting Goods.

Dave Zeller does agree, though, with what the NRA wants to see happen; armed guards posted at schools throughout America.
