As of 9 p.m., Harrisburg Hospital had delivered eight Christmas babies.
This is just another day for the maternity ward, but try telling that to the parents.
Take it from our James Tully, a Christmas baby himself, holiday birthdays always get a ‘little’ bit more attention.
“Best gift you could ever get,” explained father Clint Buffington.
Evan Dennis Buffington will for the rest of his life have the distinction as Harrisburg's first Christmas baby of 2012.
“How do you feel about having a Christmas baby?” we asked the family.
“Very excited, we did not expect to have him on Christmas, in fact I was six days over due,” replied mother Lisa Buffington.
But Evan could hardly wait to get the hospital. “It was 2:37 that we checked in, Evan was born at 2:47 a.m.,” the parents told us.
Just in the nick of time, the family made it to the ER. “In fact we had to illegally park and went running for the reception desk,” commented the parents.
Not exactly a joy-ride for dad. “She's yelling at me because she's in pain every time I accelerate it's causing her pain,” Clint chuckled, “the things we go through as men.”
Considering 18 hours after giving birth, Lisa really looked good, it seems the family is doing just fine.

But friends and of course family have always helped to make the day even more special for our Christmas baby, and we think the same is in store for Evan.
“Absolutely, oh absolutely,” the parents exclaimed when we asked whether it was the best Christmas present ever.
