Harrisburg Police are investigating a robbery that happened on December 19.

Officers were called to North 4th and Kelker Streets for a report of a robbery.

A man at the scene told police he befriended another man outside of the gas station at North 6th and Reily Streets.   The man said he was staying at the Bethesda Mission next door and went to the store to pick up a few things because he missed dinner.  The victim agreed to get a snack and cigarettes with his Access Card for the man.

The victim was unable to get cigarettes, and the man told him he knew someone who could trade Access card points for cigarettes.

The man attacked the victim, hitting him on the head with a hard object, and stole his cigaretts and $4.00.  The victim said the man told him he attacked him because he was stupid to offer help to someone in the neighborhood.

The victim suffered contusions and lacerations to the head. He was taken to the Harrisburg Hospital for treatment.

Surveillance video at the store was checked and two photographs of the suspect were developed. Det. Iachini has been trying to identity the suspect through various contacts and is now reaching out to the public for help in identifying the suspect.

The investigation continues and anyone having any information on this is asked to contact Det. Iachini at 1717-255-3118 or email riachini@cityofhbg.com or Sgt. Thomas Carter at 717-255-6586 or email tccarter@cityofhbg.com.

Anyone may also call the Dauphin County Police dispatch at 717-558-6900 and ask for a City detective.
