A Lancaster County man is behind bars for assaulting his girlfriend and 4-year-old son.
On Thursday, Lancaster City Police were called to the 500 block of North Franklin Street for a domestic dispute.
According to police, Messiah Burrell, 24, who recently moved to the area from Philadelphia, assaulted his 22-year-old girlfriend and the couple's 4-year-old son.
Officers says Burrell picked the 4-year-old up by the neck and head, and threw him onto the sidewalk. The child struck his head and shoulder on the concrete. Burrell also choked his girlfriend and punched her in the face multiple times.
Both victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The 4-year-old was treated for contusions and a strained neck. The 22-year-old was treated for a broken nose and facial injuries.
Burrell was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, endangering the welfare of children, and recklessly endangering another person.
He was arraigned and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.
