United States Marshals announced Thursday in a press release that they have arrested 26-year old Deneke L. Williams in York.
From September 2006 through December 2007, Williams was arrested on three separate occasions in Dauphin County.
She was charged by the Harrisburg Bureau of Police with one count of robbery, one count of carrying firearms without a license, one count of possession of a firearm with an altered serial number and several drug charges.
On the three cases, Ms. Williams was released on bail, pending disposition of the charges.
In early 2009, based upon Williams’ failure to appear for court on the various criminal cases, three bench warrants were issued in Dauphin County.
In December 2008, the United States Secret Service in Harrisburg obtained a federal arrest warrant against Williams. She was charged with attempting to pass counterfeit money.
Within the past few days, the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office requested the assistance of the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task to locate and apprehend this multi-jurisdiction fugitive. U.S. Marshals based in Harrisburg developed information which indicated Williams may have fled to the York area.
On February 27, USMS personnel arrested Williams near the intersection of North West Street and Linden Avenue in York. She was taken into custody without incident.
Williams was turned over to the Dauphin County Prison on the outstanding county warrants. A federal detainer was lodged based upon the counterfeiting-related charge.
United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “One of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force purposes is to apprehend offenders who jump bond and fail to face their accusers. In this case, it has been four years coming. I am very pleased with the speed in which the fugitive unit apprehended Williams once assistance was requested.”
U.S. Marshals were assisted by personnel from the York City Police Department, York County Sheriff’s Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, Lower Paxton Police Department, and the Dauphin County Adult Probation Office.
