A Baltimore man faces numerous charges after he not only burglarized a house, but then was combative with police.
On Thursday evening around 925 p.m., West York Police were called to a home in the 1100 block of West Poplar Street for a home invasion and burglary.
The caller, who was the female resident, eluded the suspect by fleeing out the front door after he broke in the back.
Minutes later, police arrived and found the back door damaged with broken glass all over the floor. They found the suspect, who took a defensive position and refused to obey police commands.
The suspect, later identified as David Anuszewski, 30 of Baltimore, challenged police to shoot him. Anuszewski was clearly intoxicated, disheveled and was bleeding from cuts to his face.
Police were forced to taze him but he continued to be combative and argumentative as he was escorted to a police cruiser.
While in custody, a substance was noticed around his nose, which he later told police was heroin that he had sniffed. Anuszewski was also in possession of several prescription pills.
When questioned about why he forced his way into the home, he said he was there to defend another person from a domestic attack. However, the person he was supposed to defend did not live at the home.
Anuszewski was intoxicated and drugged and he was hard to understand.
He was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, loitering, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He also faces additional charges for the illegal drugs that were found.
Bail was set at $25,000 and Anuszewski was placed in York County Prison.
