PA Home Show kicking off this weekend

The 2013 PA Home Show kicked off today as 300 exhibitors and seminars are scheduled to help you learn trade secrets that can save you time and money on your home projects.

Students from the Cumberland-Perry area Vo-Tech will be building the Showcase home. They will be constructing a 1650 square foot, three bedroom, two bathroom home that features a wraparound porch and stone hearth inside. The home will be auctioned off on Saturday March 2nd.

Civil War re-enactors will have a live display about what kind of "homes" soldiers lived in celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the war.

Saturday March 9th will be "Children's Workshop Day." Kids ages 5-12 will construct unique projects with help from professionals from Home Depot. The Tall Cedars of Lebanon Clowns will be on-hand for entertainment. Hersheypark characters and The Harrisburg Senators and their mascot will also be in attendance.

Monday March 4th is "Senior Day." Seminars aimed at seniors and "boomers" are scheduled to help them make their home more accessible and convenient.

Four teams of PA architects, engineers, designers and students will be competing in an event where they must design buildings made from canned goods donated by Giant Foods. The buildings will be on display throughout the week.

Friday March 8th is free parking night thanks to sponsor Brenner Family Auto Group. Friday will also be a "Night to Wine" where visitors can enjoy wine tastings from 7 PA Wineries paired with tasty cheeses from 4pm-8pm.

Show hours are Saturday from 8am-10pm. Sundays from 10am-6pm. Monday through Thursday 12pm-6pm. And Friday 12pm-8pm.
