PennDOT is bracing for the snow headed our way on Wednesday. They're planning to be in full force Tuesday night.
Don't let this beautiful day fool you, while many of you plan to use shovels to dig out Wednesday, PennDOT will be using the big tools.
“We just want to make sure the roads are open, passable; so everybody gets to their destination safely with a force of over 310 trucks are loaded and ready to go,” said PennDOT spokesperson Mike Crochunis.
Chances are they will have them all out for this storm and working around the clock, 12-hour shifts as necessary but though the snow hasn't fallen just yet, PennDOT still has been out on the roads.
“We were out there pre-treating yesterday some today,” Crochunis continued.
From plows to salt, PennDOT plans to attack the snow for a safe commute.
“With the high winds that could throw us a curve when it comes to refreeze with a wet roadway, that's what we want a wet roadway but we can't dry it off until it stops snowing,” Crochunis commented.
Meanwhile, Capital Area Transit officials say they don't expect any interruptions in service for now.
But as you head out in the snow, PennDOT says don't take chances.
“If it’s not necessary for you to be out there please just stay at home and slow your speed and don't take chances at intersections,” commented Spokesman Crochunis.

One power company we spoke to says they brought in crews from Ohio who are on their way to York County Tuesday night.
