York County is one of the counties that could get hit the hardest with snow.

County leaders are warning everyone to prepare now.

Some parts of York County have already declared snow emergencies, which includes West Manheim and Dover.

The office of emergency management is reminding people of some basic safety tips.

Now is the time to get an emergency kit ready for your home and one for your car. It should have a flashlight, batteries, water and food.

Also, have your electricity provider’s phone number ready. You should not call 911 if your power goes out.

Remember to stock up on rock salt to keep sidewalks and walkways clear also. And if you have a generator or backup power supply, review safe operating guidelines before you need it.

Mainly, county commissioners are encouraging people to be safe and be prepared.
