UPDATE: Crash kills one, injures two in West Manheim Township

UPDATE:

The West Manheim Township Police Department is continuing its investigation of a fatal accident that happened Wednesday night.

The crash happened in the 2100 block of Baltimore Pike.

According to police, witnesses say a brown 1986 Buick Century Sedan, driven by a 37-year-old from Hanover was northbound at a high rate of speed.   They say she was also driving in the opposite lane and unlawfully passing.  While the Buick was passing another car, a southbound pickup truck was forced off the roadway near the intersection of Baltimore Pike and Fuhrman Mill Road.

Police say shortly after missing the truck, the Buick crested a small hill in the wrong lane and collided head-on into a black 2012 Nissan Rogue.  The Nissan was driven by Arliss Thomas Sr., 54, of Hanover. 

Arliss and his 22-year-old son were injured in the crash. Arliss Sr. remains in York Hospital with multiple fractures.  His son, Arliss Jr, was released after treatment for minor injuries.

The driver of the Buick, died upon impact from multiple traumatic injuries. 

Police say they are waiting for toxicology test results to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved.

The woman's name is being withheld until family from out of state is notified by the York County Deputy Coroner.

A two-car accident left a woman dead and two others with serious injuries Wednesday night.

The crash occurred around 535 p.m. in the 2100 block of Baltimore Pike in West Manheim Township, York County.

A Buick sedan driven by a woman was driving northbound when crossed into the path of a Nissan SUV, hitting it head-on.

The driver of the Buick died upon impact of multiple blunt force trauma. People in the area reported the Buick was driving erratically and at a high speed just before the crash.

The driver and passenger of the Nissan were both taken to York Hospital.

The driver was flown to the hospital with serious injuries. The passenger was transported with moderate injuries.

At this point the names will not be released.

West Manheim Township Police will provide more information on Thursday.
