Carlisle tax collector, George Hicks, Jr., pleaded guilty in Cumberland County Court Thursday to one count of delivering a controlled substance. Hicks, 21, was arrested in August 2012 and charged with selling marijuana. He admitted to regularly smoking medical marijuana.
Assistant District Attorney Matthew Smith said Hicks will pay a $300 fine and serve two years supervised probation, as well as drug and alcohol evaluation. Hicks agreed to pay $5000 restitution for something unrelated instead of facing further charges, according to Smith.
Hicks did not contest the civil action suit filed by District Attorney Dave Freed and has been removed from office.
