Harrisburg Police had another busy weekend, having to deal with a stabbing, shooting and three armed robberies.
On Friday around 415 p.m., a woman was beaten and robbed at the YWCA on Market Street. The victim said she was walking up the steps from Market Strteet to South Summit Street when she was confronted by two robbers.
One pointed a gun at her and demanded her valuables.
The robbers pushed her down on the steps and then punched her in the face and head several times.
While the robbers were attacking the victim, they put the gun down and the female victim grabbed it. However, when she tried to fire it, it did not fire.
The victim was taken to Harrisburg Hospital for numerous injuries, however they were not life threatening.
About an hour later, officers were called to South 15th Street for the report of a man firing a gun while sitting on a porch. Officers found Shakur Tennant sitting on the porch, but he did not have a gun.
However, witnesses informed police that Tennant had fired the gun, and when police went back and searched the home he was at, they found it under the couch.
Tennant was charged with discharging a firearm in the city, and police realized he fit the description for the robbery. The victim was able to identify him as her robber.
Harrisburg Police are extremely thankful for the support of witnesses in this case.
Police are still looking for another suspect, a black male in his 20s with thin, curly, unkempt hair and wearing a green t-shirt and jean shorts.
Then Friday evening around 1030 p.m., police were called to Seneca Street for a report of a man being robbed. The victim said he was walking home after visiting a friend when he walked past a man.
The man yelled for the victim to give him his wallet. The victim turned and saw the man who walked by him pointing a gun at him. He turned over his wallet and keys.
The third incident occurred on Saturday around 445 p.m. A man showed up in the police lobby to report being hit on the head and robbed.
He later told police from Harrisburg Hospital he had parked a borrowed car to use an ATM at a bank. He withdrew a little money and went back to the car. He also was carrying a briefcase.
The suspects hit him on the back of the head by two robbers, who took the briefcase, cash and the car.
The missing car is owned by a friend. It is a 2003 Mercedes S500, aqua green in color and has a North Carolina license plate.
Anyone with information on any of these armed robberies is asked to call Harrisburg Police.
