Police have charged a husband and wife in connection to a theft incident in Lancaster County.
Police have arrested the wife, but are still looking for the husband.
East Lampeter Township Police have charged Mohamed Khairat,43, and his wife Kerri L. Khairat, 37, of York Pa with numerous counts of felony theft by unlawful taking and criminal conspiracy to commit theft following the closure of the Moe’s Bistro restaurant in the 300 block of West Main St. in Leola.
Police say the Khairat's opened Moe’s Bistro restaurant back in February, leasing nearly 150,000 dollars worth of equipment and supplies.
Police say the couple abruptly closed the restaurant in May, without giving employees any notice.
Authorities say the duo then stole all of the leased equipment and abandoned the business.
Police say their employees were never paid and the stolen equipment was then illegally sold.
Police have since recovered the equipment.
Kerri was charged with six counts of felony criminal conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking.
She has been arraigned and is currently out on bail.
Police are still looking for Mohamed, who they charged with 10 counts of felony theft.
