The State Capitol complex is protected by Capitol Police and the state Senate security guards don't carry weapons either.
The decision to strip House chambers uniformed guards reverses a 2006 policy. It switched in May, but went largely unnoticed until now.
The decision was made after one of the 16 guards was found to have been carrying a gun for years despite a criminal history.
