The Cumberland County District Attorney says investigators are trying to identify and interview the universe of potentials victims of a former music teacher at the Bible Baptist School in Shiremanstown who allegedly sexually assaulted two teenage students.
William Jackson of New Cumberland was fired this week as a music teacher at the school and as minister of music at Bible Baptist Church. The investigation began a week ago when concerned parents showed school officials 19 printed pages of inappropriate electronic messages between their teenage son and his 57-year-old school teacher.
District Attorney Dave Freed says police have served four search warrants. Police searched Jackson's home in New Cumberland and did consensual searches of areas of Bible Baptist School. Six different electronic devices were seized. They are currently undergoing forensic inspection.
Jackson is alleged to have looked at and touched the private parts of two 17-year-old boys in the school's music room. Court papers also reveal he gave massages to students.
In a written statement released today, the district attorney says:
"I understand and appreciate the public's interest in this matter. I want to stress that it is our duty as law enforcement officials to ensure the integrity of the investigation and ensure that any criminal charges are supported by strong evidence."
The joint investigation is operating out of the Lower Allen Township Police Department. Police from Lower Allen and Hampden Townships and Mechanicsburg Borough are helping Shiremanstown PD and the district attorneys office. In addition, two, specially-trained Upper Allen police officers are handling computer forensics.
The district attorney expects the initial stages of the investigation to be complete within a week. Parents or individuals with information about this case are urged to contact Shiremanstown police or the district attorneys office.
