Hector Gonzalez, 31, of York is dead after an early morning police chase.
Police on routine patrol saw a car driving erratically near Route 30 and Pennsylvania Avenue just after 3 a.m Sunday morning. Trooper Adam Reed says police tried to stop the car, but the driver refused to yield. The driver lost control at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Parkway Boulevard. The car hit a curb, struck a tree, then crashed into Kiwanis Lake.
Recovery crews partially drained the lake to recover the body and investigate.
Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the car's only occupant.
