On Wednesday, Governor Tom Corbett ordered all United States and Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and at commonwealth facilities in Dauphin County to fly at half-staff on Friday, May 3, to honor U.S. Navy Special Warfare Operator Chief Brett D. Shadle.

Shadle, 31, of Elizabethville, died during a military training exercise on March 28 in Arizona. Shadle enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2000 and completed his SEAL training the following year, military officials said. Shadle served in Afghanistan and Iraq, earning multiple Bronze Star medals with valor and several service ribbons.

Flags shall remain at half-staff until sundown on May 3, the day of Shadle’s burial in Arlington National Cemetery.

All Pennsylvanians are invited to join in this tribute.
