SOMERSET, Pa. (AP) — A 24-year-old man who drunkenly entered the ski resort hotel room of an 11-year-old girl and dragged her out of bed will spend six to 23 months in jail.
Somerset County prosecutors dropped more serious charges of kidnapping, burglary and unlawful restraint against Justin Weber, of Plum, in the March 6, 2011 incident at Seven Springs Mountain Resort.
Instead, Weber pleaded guilty to interference with the custody of a child and criminal trespass and was sentenced Thursday.
Weber entered the girl's room about 1:15 a.m. and carried her into the bathroom, before he ran away when she began screaming.
Weber's attorney contends he was drunk and mistakenly entered the wrong room looking for a misplaced bottle of beer which police later found nearby.
The girl is still in counseling. Weber is barred from contact with children.
