We all know that people all around the world use social media, some may even call it an obsession. But a new study has found that young people are more inclined to choose social media over sex.

The study found that while the urge for sex is stronger, people are more likely to give in to the desire of social media.

So we went to Millersville University and asked students, what would they choose?

“If someone asked me to have sex I’d choose that over Facebook or Twitter,” chuckled Matthew Petrushka.

The University of Chicago conducted a survey that found checking Facebook or twitter is more alluring than sex for those immersed in the Internet age.

“Sex is a psychological need and it’s a basic human need that everyone needs to me,” Petrushka continued. “Facebook and twitter don’t really mean much to people, and sex is just everything.”

“Just because we have our smart phones in our pockets with us at all times we’re always checking it and it’s always just during class and everything and sex is just...it’s almost taken a backburner to that,” stated Mackenzi King.

“I check it all the time, but I wouldn’t say it’s more important than sex,” Blair Welsh disagreed with the study.

“I think it’s because sex has lost a lot of it’s value, it’s not as intimate and special,” Abbi Byers told us.

“I’m not really involved in either, I’m just gonna put that out there, like I don’t really go on Facebook much, I’m not dependent on it, but yeah, there’s kids sitting in class while we should be taking notes and they’re Facebooking on the computer,” explained Nikki Jack.

“It’s more accessible, you can’t just click a button and have sex,” stated Kalen Fisher. “You can click a button and be on Facebook, though.”

“When a guy goes out it’s like really hard for them to meet girls and really hard for them to have sex, so they build up the confidence to go out and meet girls and have sex with them, but with the internet it’s one click away,” explained Quinton Collins.

One interesting thing about the study is that it also found that the more people tried to resist social media, the harder it came to resist it.
