From the Dept. of Labor and Industry:
The Department of Labor & Industry today honored the sacrifices made by American veterans and public employees’ commitment to service during a dedication ceremony of a new flagpole installed outside the department’s Cameron Street offices.
“We are, each day, profoundly thankful for the liberty and security made possible by the selflessness of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces,” said Deputy Secretary for Compensation & Insurance Liz Crum. “Ours is an inestimable debt of gratitude.”
The American flag and flagpole – gifts to the department from the building’s owner – were dedicated during a public ceremony featuring the Dauphin County Veterans Honor Guard and the singing of the national anthem by department employees Steve Pakosh and Edward Hurst. Also attending were Sen. John C. Rafferty (R-Berks) and Rep. Ed Neilson (D-Philadelphia). Rafferty also presented the department with a Pennsylvania state flag.
“I also want to thank the employees of the Department of Labor & Industry and others in state and local government, and to recognize their commitment to the commonwealth, to their fellow citizens and to excellence in providing the high-quality services Pennsylvanians need and deserve,” Crum said.
