Dozens gathered at the state capitol Wednesday, rallying for Medicaid funding.
Disability activists from the group ADAPT, among other state and local organizations from across Pennsylvania voiced their concerns. Their claims include that Governor Corbett rolled back funding on Medicaid assistance for individuals living at home, while giving more aid to nursing homes.
People at the rally are concerned over how these funding issues will directly impact their lives.
“I want to make sure that we have the money we need to fund services so people with disabilities can live free in their own communities and not be imprisoned in a nursing home,” explained community member Pam Auer.
The rally in Central Pennsylvania was just one of several rallies happening nationwide.
