Barnes and Noble is telling its customers to check their bank statements, after the retailer revealed their credit and debit card PIN pads were tampered with.

The bookseller says some of the personal identification numbers customers enter when they pay, have been stolen.

63 stores in nine states have been affected by this hacking situation, including: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Illinois, and California.

Right now, Barnes and Noble is warning customers in these states to check for any unauthorized transactions, and to change their PIN number.
