Police in Lancaster County say a five-year-old girl was abducted Thursday afternoon and held for two hours.
Two teenagers on bicycles chased the car the abductor was driving and are credited with saving the girl with the help of emergency personnel.
Police only have a vague description of the abductor. They say because the victim is a child, and the two witnesses are young teenagers. The only description they can offer the public is that the man may have been driving a blue or purple Chevrolet Impala.
Around 4:15 Thursday evening, police say a five year old was playing outside of her home near Lancaster Arms Apartments in Lancaster Township, when she went missing.
Her mother called police and then a huge search effort started.
Police were just about to issue an Amber Alert around 6:15 p.m. when the girl was found.
Police say two boys on bikes helped find the girl.
They saw her in a car driven by a man. When they followed, he pushed the girl out of the car and she ran to them.
"Soon as the guy started noticing that we were chasing them, he stopped at the end of the hill and let her out and she ran to me and said that she needed her mom and I brought her back over here to police," explained one of the heroic teens, Temar Boggs.
The girl's family says they are grateful.
"I met Tremar, he's the one who helped track her down and she ran to him, he's our hero," explained grandmother Tracey Clay.
Tracey Clay was soaking with sweat from running around Jennings Drive neighborhood searching, only to have her granddaughter found a block-and-a-half away.
"Better than wining the jackpot,” Clay stated. “Yeah this is awesome, awesome."
Again, the only description is the abductor may have been driving a blue or purple car, possibly a Chevrolet Impala because they noticed round tail lights.
Police say the five-year-old is in the hospital overnight and they hope that after she speaks with people trained to deal with children, they may have a better description to offer.
In the mean time, they are telling parents to keep an extra close eye on their children.
