Lancaster City Police say a man turned himself in following a stabbing.
On Wednesday, officers were called to the area of Howard Avenue and Christian Street for a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived at the scene and learned that the victim had walked into the emergency room at Lancaster General Hospital. Officers on scene were able to determine the stabbing happened at 529 Howard Avenue and the victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. Police say the 23-year-old female was taken into surgery and treated for multiple stab wounds to the chest, torso and arm. Officials say her injuries are non-life threatening.
Police on scene interviewed witnesses and learned that the suspect was the victim's boyfriend. Witnesses told police the man had fled the scene before officers arrived. Police identified him as Jose Alberto Estevez, 36, of Howard Avenue. While officers were looking for him, Estevez turned himself into another officer on South Ann Street.
Officers arrested Estevez and charged him with one count of criminal attempt at criminal homicide. He is currently being held for arraignment.
