8AM UPDATE.... SANDY CONTINUES TO BRING HIGH WIND AND RAIN
-Conestoga River in Lancaster will crest between 13.0 and 13.5 feet.. then falling below flood stage early Wednesday morning.
-Yellow Breeches Creek near Camp Hill cresting at 9.0 feet this evening... then fall below flood stage Thursday morning.
What was left from the, "eye" of Sandy passed directly over Central Pennsylvania overnight. When all is said and done, the big story from Sandy will have been the wind and power outages... thankfully we will be spared major flooding.
Expect the rain to continue today with wind gusts in the 40+ mph range. While Sandy is still a powerful storm, at this point the worst is over for us. Having said that, we will continue to deal with power outages and downed trees and wires today... but the worst of the heavy rain and highest wind gusts are likely behind us now.
Tomorrow will feature some improvement... scattered showers and winds in the 10 to 20 MPH range. By Thursday we are just mostly cloudy and breezy and right now the weekend looks good... some sunshine with highs at or near 50 degrees.
Right now we are only looking at minor flooding on the smaller creeks and streams... and THANKFULLY the main stem of Susquehanna River is forecast to crest well BELOW Flood Stage at 10.6' on Thursday evening.
