UPDATE:
A tragic accident Thursday in Harrisburg. A woman crossing the street was hit and killed by a Harrisburg police car.
Neighbors say police speed through the area every day and they're not surprised this happened.
People gathered on the sidewalk and on their porches to see what had happened, but most weren't surprised by the scene saying that police constantly speed up and down the street.
Family stood in disbelief after a Harrisburg City police car hit and killed a woman crossing the street around 820 Thursday morning.
"The crash occurred on Market Street and reconstruction crews are currently on scene," explained State Police Trooper Adam Reed.
The woman hit was 36-year-old Shulena Weldon of Harrisburg. Neighbors say that people cross the street there all the time to catch the bus.
Witnesses say that the police car was speeding up the street when it hit the woman and dragged her until the car finally stopped. They say it had it's lights on, but no siren.
"The speed limits 25 mph but police speed through every day, I mean every single day," commented a neighbor.
State Police were called to investigate this accident because it involves city police.
The road was reopened after four hours of investigations where State Police tried to piece together exactly how this accident happened.
State police say that they had a reconstruction unit on scene to try to figure out the speed of the police car when it hit the woman and how this happened.
At this time Harrisburg Police have not said what will happen to the officer involved in the accident.
