We now know the name of the young man who was killed in a horrific crash Tuesday night on Route 283 in Lancaster.

Police say he was driving east in the westbound lane and collided with a tractor trailer carrying 40 head of cattle.

Harley Johnson, 20, was part of a young up and coming rock band from central PA. The Pequea Valley High School graduate was the band’s drummer.
The band is For the Perilous.  Things for this Lebanon based heavy metal group were looking good, they just made their first music video, designed new shirts and their fan base was growing. But Tuesday night everything changed.

At 10:30, police say the band’s drummer 20-year-old Harley Johnson was driving east in the westbound lanes of 283 and slammed head on into a tractor trailer in Mount Joy Township. A fire erupted trapping Johnson’s girlfriend 18-year-old Ashley Kreider inside. She’s now in critical condition at a local hospital.

The driver of the truck was not injured. 283 westbound was closed for seven hours.

Now, the band’s Facebook page is filling up heartfelt goodbyes from grieving fans. This message came from the band’s guitarist, Mike Mavretic.
“To the people who knew Harley, we knew him to be a witty child who had an amazing personality. He never stopped caring and his apatite (sic) for music was a passion that could have only been matched by the powers of God himself. Harley was our guy and will forever be our guy, words can't go into describing how much this kid meant to us and I'm sure anyone who ever spoke to him. Harley, we love you and will pray for you every night until our last. Love you man, sleep easy now.”

According to the bands Facebook page their next concert was scheduled to be December 8 at the Laserdome in Manheim.
