Borough council can accept or reject any and all options. The council is still in control, and unlike Harrisburg there will not be a state-appointed receiver.
Borough officials say the financial warning signs have been there for years. This council wants to ensure responsible steps are taken at the right times.
“We want to stop and make sure we take the right steps, we want the state to give us a road map so we don't drive into the cannon and don't want to end up like Harrisburg,” stated one official. “We want to talk to experts.”
Borough Council’s President says they don't want to place blame or finger point at past councils. But he adds this is a step to getting the borough on the right financial footing for the future.
