Two robberies at the same store in two days

A general goods store in Ephrata has been robbed twice in the past 2 days, and police believe the robberies were done by the same man.

On Tuesday night a robber wearing a grey hoodie walked into Good's Store with a knife and demanded money before running away.

Police believe the same man walked into the store Wednesday night, this time wearing a mask and using a gun instead of a knife, and after getting money from the register, ran away.

Tammie Brown works at a gas station nearby the Goods store, she says she heard the same thing.  "I heard that two nights ago a man robbed the place with a grey hoodie and a knife, and last night I heard that the same guy had a gun."

Brown says that she's worried that she could be the next victim, "Really scared. Everybody that walked through the door with a grey hoodie I thought it was them. My coworker - I kept saying oh my God - he has a grey hoodie on ya know? But so far so good."

Ephrata Police are investigating the robberies and say that they are working towards finding the suspect.

"We believe the same suspect is responsible and we're actively working on that case right now and narrowing things down," said Lieutenant Thomas Shumaker of the Ephrata Police Department.

The robber entered Good's store on the 1600 Block of West Main Street, which serves mainly Mennonite, Amish and Dutch communities - and demanded money.

Brown says, you never know if you could be next. "You just never know - just because they weren't here yet doesn't mean they're not coming here."

Police say no one was hurt in the incidents, but it's something they want to make sure doesn't happen again.

"Obviously we're hoping it's not going to happen again and we'll take whatever action we can to protect that business the same as we would any other." Lt. Shumaker says.

Police say they do have surveillance photos of the robber, but at this time they do not have anyone in custody. If you have any information regarding this robbery, you're asked to give Ephrata Police a call.
